The Power Of Present Moment
I read an article in The Hindu today which had a line, Redemption is not just a yearning. Its a burning need. Think of it. How much time is given by us upon the need to work more and give our lives better purposes and how less time we give to executing it.
What we need to understand is that every time we think of improving our lives we need to STOP thinking about how much we “could have” done better in the past and instead only focus on the tantamount to it we can do in the present and near future. Eckhart Tolle says, “Realize deeply that the present moment is all you ever have. Make the Now the primary focus of your life.” While this may seem like an easy thought, most of us are failing at its implementation. Every time we think of improving our lives by focusing on doing only the right and important things, our brain tricks us into believing that we cannot achieve so much by bringing before us the memories of the past. At such moments, we need to alternate our thoughts back to focus and chalk up a plan to pursuit the best lifestyle and thoughts for us. At such moments, we must tell ourselves that redemption can begin by us at any moment decided by us, and that with enough determination we can rectify all our mistakes and be better human beings.
After all, we only have one life.
